Jazz Concert

Ana Rocha is a Portuguese and German singer, composer and lyricist. Born in Berlin and raised in Brussels, with degrees in Jazz Singing and Comparative Literature from the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and the Freie Universität Berlin, the singer has cultivated her love for music, languages and literature, culminating in her artistic endeavors.

Double bass player and composer Carlos Bica is one of the most prolific and innovative Portuguese sound artists and has been a consistent presence on the European Jazz scene. Known for his lyrical tone on the double bass, Bica has the rare ability to write melodies that essentially are songs without words, haunting and unforgettable. The music of Carlos Bica is exciting, modern, and contagious.

This duo of voice and double bass explores the possibilities of nuance and expressivity in a most intimate setting, playful and adventurous. Ana Rocha and Carlos Bica will play their own songs as well as songs by others, from jazz standards to folk songs, in a refreshing and surprising program.
